The flag of the Falkland Islands consists of a dark blue base with a British Union jack in the upper left corner which extends to half the length of the flag. The Falkland Islands is an overseas territory of Britain. Sovereignty of the islands is also claimed by Argentina where the islands are known as Malvinas. Centered on the right side of the flag is the country's coat of arms. The arms of the Falkland Islands consist of a white ram standing on grass atop a blue and white wavy base, which has a Tudor style ship in it.
History: The current Falkland Islands flag was adopted on September 29, 1948. The flag changed in appearance 1999 when the Ministry of Defense changed the specification for the placement of badges on the flag. The size of the badge was increased and all white discs were removed.
Interesting Facts: Before 1948 there was a bull in the emblem, but since sheep-raising is the major livestock on the Falkland Islands, the bull was changed to a ram. (source: worldflags101)
